GACO is happy to announce an upcoming seminar on virtual assets and virtual asset service providers.  

The increase of virtual asset related companies operating within the financial services space has resulted in traditional financial services having to adapt and enhance their expertise in this area.  When onboarding or managing business relationships associated to virtual assets, firms need to understand the very specific features and risks related to virtual assets. 

This seminar includes the following: 

• introduction to virtual assets, concepts and terminology;
• assessing risks relating to virtual assets and virtual asset service providers as part of the customer due diligence process and ongoing monitoring;
• discussion of the source of fund verification of virtual assets;
• FATF Red Flag Indicators of money laundering and terrorist financing;
• typical money laundering and terrorist financing manoeuvres associated with virtual assets;
• Decentralised Autonomous Organisations (DAOs), and the increasing use of foundations in crypto; and
• an overview of regulatory environment for virtual assets.
