Webinar: How to build a robust Business Wide Risk Assessment (BWRA)

12 February 2025

BWRA is a comprehensive process, found to be of great value by licensed institutions in identifying, assessing and mitigating money laundering and terrorist financing  risks throughout the business.

The process works by periodically assessing the potential risks that an organisation may face. This assessment takes into account risks across its various product lines, products, services, customer types, geographic locations and any other relevant factors and  will help your organisation identify where its vulnerabilities lie, enabling you to manage and reduce the risk of exploitation for money laundering and terrorist financing activities. It will also facilitate the comparison of risks across jurisdictions and licences (e.g. how customer activity and patterns differ across jurisdictions). This assessment process is therefore also critical for organizations that passport their activities to other countries (e.g., EU/EEA) or hold licenses in multiple continents.

Conducting a BWRA is a complex process. It presents several challenges to the compliance team and requires careful planning, coordination and ongoing effort. It is essential to get the process right else these challenges can affect the accuracy, effectiveness and overall results of the risk assessment. It will require  resource from across your organisation and to help you on the right path, GACO is  happy to have engaged António Bernardes Honorio, to deliver this very interesting webinar on how to build a robust BWRA.
