Improving the Quality of Suspicious Activity Reports in e-Gaming

The GFIU in collaboration with GACO, have invited Christina Thakor-Rankin to run a workshop on improving the quality of SARs from the e-gaming sector. Christina has over 20 years’ experience in the betting and gaming industry, working with some of the sector’s biggest names.

The number of SARs submitted to the GFIU has increased dramatically in 2018 in comparison to previous years. Over 70% of these reports are from the e-gaming sector. With this increase the GFIU has identified that a large proportion of these SARs are defensive reporting, of poor quality or contain limited information. This places a significant burden on the GFIU’s resources and therefore a broader focus on improving SAR quality is required to eliminate the amount of unproductive SARs.
